Couple loses $36,000 in ‘HDC’ housing scam

36-year-old Tunapuna woman has reported to police that she and her husband lost $36,000 in a housing scam.
Police reports said the woman responded to a Facebook advertisement on February 3 about two houses which were described as Housing Development Corporation (HDC) homes in Malabar Phase 4 for sale.
She contacted a man named “Mr Thoms” and on February 5, made a down payment of $18,000 to an account in the name of “Ashley Greg” at Republic Bank, Tunapuna.
