AFTER more than two decades of legal proceedings and a failed first trial, a South Oropouche man has been found not guilty of causing the death of a 16-year-old boy by dangerous driving along the M2 Ring Road.
The verdict was delivered on Monday in favour of Gary Gould Davies, bringing to an end a case that first went before a jury in 2017 but resulted in a hung panel and an order for retrial.
Davies, now 64, had been accused of causing the death of Jeff Ramkissoon on August 24, 2003. Ramkissoon, 16, died after he was struck by a vehicle while hunting manicou with a cousin near the M2 Ring Road, South Oropouche.
