THE criminal trial arising out of a 2023 road tragedy in Tobago that claimed the lives of a fire officer and his wife came to an abrupt end yesterday after the State indicated it would be offering no further evidence.

Skeater Frederick, who was charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving, was discharged by High Court judge Nalini Singh following the State’s decision.

On the third day of the judge-only trial into the deaths of Christian Adams and Teresa Alleyne-Adams, State counsel Dylan Martin told the court that, having reviewed the evidence in accordance with the Code for Prosecutors, the prosecution had concluded there was no longer a realistic prospect of securing a conviction.
