Linden Mayor, council defend legal right to toll revenue

(Kaieteur News) – The Linden Mayor and Town Council on Wednesday defended its legal right to revenue from the tolls at the Wismar/Mackenzie Bridge and the existing toll booth at Kara Kara.

In a statement to the press, the council said it met with the president on Wednesday to discuss the removal of its revenue from the Wismar/Mackenzie Bridge, which is governed by the Wismar/Mackenzie Bridge Act, and the existing Kara Kara toll booth, which was gazetted in 2016.

“The meeting provided an important forum for the council to articulate its concerns and to seek clarity regarding the implications of the proposed changes. Preliminary information was provided on current income and financial arrangements. However, additional information was requested and this would be provided in a subsequent meeting to be held tomorrow (today),” the release stated.
