India Prime Minister Narendra Modi says receiving the Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (ORTT) is an honour which symbolises the deep and enduring friendship between India and Trinidad and Tobago.
He made the statement after he was presented with Trinidad and Tobago’s highest honour by President Christine Kangaloo at President’s House, Port of Spain, yesterday.
Among the attendees at the ceremony were Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and members of her Cabinet, Senate President Wade Mark; House Speaker Jagdeo Singh; Opposition Leader Pennelope Beckles, dressed in Indian wear; and Chief Justice Ivor Archie and his wife, Denise.
