Attorney General John Jeremie angrily lashed out at Independent Senator Anthony Vieira, accusing him of crossing the line with his criticism of the Government’s handling of the national budget debate and flatly rejecting suggestions of inequity in the distribution of state resources.
In an exchange in the Senate on Monday night, Jeremie took particular offence to Vieira’s suggestion that Government members had failed to meaningfully engage in the debate and provide answers to serious questions about the allocation of billions of dollars in public funds.
“For the senator (Vieira) to sit on his derriere over there today for the first time, and to accuse those of us on this side of sloth, I reject that,” Jeremie declared.
