Former independent senator Martin Daly, SC, has criticised allegations by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar that two Independent senators sought personal favours in exchange for supporting the Zones of Special Operations (ZOSO) Bill, warning that such claims made without evidence undermine constitutional governance and public standards.
Speaking on TV6’s Morning Edition yesterday, Daly described the Prime Minister’s statements on Wednesday as vague and improper, noting that no names of senators or details were provided.
“I think we should start by setting aside these unparticularised allegations,” Daly said. “She can make them with particulars...in Parliament where she has absolute privilege.”
