Businessman shot, robbed while on cell phone in yard

A 38-year-old businessman was on Saturday shot and relived of several pieces of jewellery while at his ‘A’ Field, Sophia, Greater Georgetown residence, by two armed men. According to reports, the businessman was in his yard on his cellular phone when he was approached by two masked men who were clad in reflective vests. One of them was reportedly armed with a handgun. However, during the confrontation, the suspects attempted to relieve the victim of the chains he was wearing, but he put up some resistance. In retaliation, he was shot in his right leg above the knee, after which the men relieved him of the jewellery and made good their escape. The injured man was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), where he was treated and admitted in a stable condition. Detectives are reviewing CCTV footage as investigations continue.
