Workers of the Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago Ltd (TSTT) have been warned that industrial action is against the law.

TSTT on Friday fired back at the Communications Workers’ Union’s (CWU) threat to shut down the company over a disputed 10% wage increase, warning that any industrial action by its workers would be prohibited under the Industrial Relations Act because telecommunications is classified as an essential service.

But CWU secretary general Joanne Ogeer is defiant, declaring “heads will roll come Wednesday” and insisting the union would be acting within the law, as she rejected TSTT’s warning to workers.
