Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar says the United National Congress (UNC) is ready for the April 28 general election, which was called by Prime Minister Stuart Young yesterday.
The party has not yet named all of its candidates expected to contest seats alongside those presented within its ‘Coalition of Interests’ with other parties. But the UNC has been making arrangements for the polls since last year, Persad-Bissessar said in a statement yesterday.
“The UNC is ready, and we are on the road to victory. This has come as no surprise,” she said in response to the Young’s calling of the election date on his second day in office.
