Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar has called Prime Minister Stuart Young’s calling of an April election date a ‘hurried,’ attempt to avoid United National Congress (UNC) legal action against him.
Shortly after the Office of the Prime Minister yesterday published the April 28th General Election date set by Young yesterday, Persad-Bissessar stated that the announcement was an attempt to avoid facing the courts on what she termed his “illegal’ an ‘unconstitutional’ appointment to the post.
Last week, Persad-Bissessar warned that Young would face the ‘Brilliant UNC Lawyers,” in the country’s courts should he replace outgoing Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley following his resignation.
