A Morvant man was acquitted of murder and gun-related charges after the state’s main witness recanted earlier statements that had identified him as a shooter in the February 2023 killing of a woman.
Ishmael Cyrus was before the court charged with the murder of Naila Nelson, possession of firearm, possession of ammunition and wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
Cyrus had been in custody since his arrest March 5, 2023.
