TRINIDAD and Tobago has moved swiftly to send emergency relief supplies to Jamaica in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, which has left widespread devastation across the island.
Dr Ramesh Ramdeen, CEO of the TT Manufacturers’ Association (TTMA), said Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has mobilised an inter-ministerial committee to coordinate national efforts and fast-track the shipment of aid.
“(Persad-Bissessar) has mobilised an inter-ministerial committee and pulled in the TTMA as part of that grouping to get relief into Jamaica as soon as possible. She is cutting the bureaucracy to make it happen.”
