The Environmental Management Authority (EMA) has advised sensitive groups in three areas to avoid prolonged exertion due to unhealthy air quality levels.
In a release Monday the EMA advised the public that the current “Air Quality” level has registered UNHEALTHY on the Air Quality Index (AQI) at the EMA’s Monitoring Stations in Port of Spain, Point Lisas and San Fernando as at a.m.
The increase in Particulate Matter (PM) is attributed to Saharan dust and the levels range between 164-177, the EMA reported.
