The Environmental Management Authority (EMA) has announced the official commissioning of a new Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Station in King’s Bay, Tobago.
In a media release Wednesday, the EMA reported this installation expands Trinidad and Tobago’s Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Network (AAQMN) to a total of nine stations nationwide and marks the second site on the island of Tobago.
"King’s Bay was strategically selected through a rigorous, site-based process led by the EMA’s Air Unit and Tobago Office, following guidelines established by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA). Situated at the King’s Bay Water Treatment Plant, this station is designed to serve as a baseline reference point for air quality in the region," the Authority stated.
