A Chaguanas mechanic narrowly escaped injury after his car caught fire while he was performing electrical work on it Monday afternoon.
Rajendra Benny, 58, of Uriah Butler Highway, Charlieville, told police that around 5:30 p.m., sparks from some wiring ignited his purple Nissan Cifero.
With the help of his family, Benny managed to extinguish the flames using a hose and buckets, but the vehicle was completely destroyed.
