THE Chamber of the Siparia Borough Corporation descended into name-calling between Mayor Doonath Mayrhoo and ex-United National Congress alderman Victor Roberts as he and People’s National Movement (PNM) councillors staged a walkout of a special statutory meeting yesterday.
The meeting was held to select members of various committees within the corporation. However, there was disagreement over the process and chaos erupted.
The PNM has the majority in the borough after Roberts and councillor for Siparia West/Fyzabad Jason Ali crossed the floor in recent times, and also following the death of councillor Romona Victor.
