Driver killed in West Dem crash after car slams into parked truck

(Kaieteur News) – Police are investigating a fatal road accident which occurred around 06:30hrs on Saturday, October 31, 2026, along the Rotterdam Public Road, West Coast Demerara, claiming the life of 41-year-old Wendell Softley of Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara.
The accident involved motorcar HD 6649, driven by Softley, and motor lorry GAG 1054.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the motorcar was proceeding west along the southern driving lane, allegedly at a fast rate of speed, when the driver reportedly lost control, veered off the roadway and crashed into the front of the motor lorry, which was stationary on the southern parapet.
