The Energy Chamber of Trinidad and Tobago has welcomed news that several of Trinidad and Tobago’s key energy exports have been granted exemptions under the revised tariff schedule announced by the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR).
The USTR confirmed that T&T has been placed in the lowest tariff bracket, at 10%, following the conclusion of the Section 301 investigation into forced labour enforcement among 60 of the US’s largest trading partners.
The Energy Chamber noted that the outcome was achieved through sustained engagement between the government and US officials.
