(Kaieteur News) – The Guyana Police Force has launched an investigation into suspected Trafficking in Persons (TIP) activity following an operation at a business premises at No. 65 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, on Wednesday evening.
Police said the operation was conducted between 6:40 p.m. and 7:05 p.m. on October 7, 2026, after ranks received information concerning suspected trafficking activity. Acting on the information, police executed a search warrant at the premises, where they found six female Venezuelan nationals, ages 16, 18, 21, 25, 25 and 32, each occupying separate rooms.
The women were questioned and screened for possible indicators of trafficking in persons. According to police, the initial screening did not identify any such indicators. They were subsequently escorted to the No. 51 Police Station, where further interviews and screening were conducted.
