3 Venezuelans charged, remanded for late-night disturbance at Kitty car wash

The three Venezuelan nationals who were taken into police custody following an incident at a car wash on Tuesday evening along Railway Line, Kitty, Georgetown have been charged and remanded to prison. Erich Medina and Jose Daniels Sotillo were both charged with Assault with intent to prevent lawful apprehension and disorderly Behaviour while Cesar Sotillo was charged with making loud and continuous noise, resisting arrest and disorderly behaviour. They appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court and were not required to plead to the indictments. As such, they were remanded to prison until October 9, 2026. It was reported that on the day in question, at about 02:05h, police responded to a report of a motorcar playing loud and continuous music at the establishment, thus causing annoyance to residents. Upon arrival, ranks attempted to address the reported disturbance but were allegedly obstructed by several persons at the location while carrying out their duties. As a result, an additional police patrol was summoned to assist. Several persons were subsequently apprehended as police are on the hunt for others in relation to the incident. The Guyana Police Force (GPF) in a subsequent statement, related that it is aware of video footage circulating on social media showing a portion of the interaction between police ranks and several persons at the location and same is being investigated.
