THE majority of the United National Congress (UNC) La Brea constituency executive has endorsed former union leader Clyde Elder as their candidate for the upcoming general election.
The Express understands that Victor Roberts, chairman of the La Brea constituency executive, and a relative of his were the only two members who did not attend the meeting, despite being informed by councillors about the decision to partner with the Oilfields Workers' Trade Union (OWTU).
In a letter dated February 24, 2025, Roberts wrote to UNC chairman Davendranath Tancoo, general secretary Peter Kanhai, and party leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar, expressing concern over his exclusion from the candidate screening process for La Brea.
