Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar yesterday brushed off attorney Larry Lalla’s resignation from the United National Congress (UNC), stating it would not affect the party’s general election plans.
Wishing Lalla well, the former prime minister emphasised that people are free to join or leave, while the UNC celebrates growing membership, including 700 new members in La Horquetta alone.
Lalla, who served as a temporary UNC senator, resigned as a party member by letter dated February 24 to UNC chairman Davendranath Tancoo.
