At least three business chambers have weighed in on proposed legislation to increase the age limit for alcohol and marijuana use, as well as gambling, acknowledging the importance of safeguarding young people from the harmful effects of these vices.
Kiran Singh, president of the Greater San Fernando Area Chamber of Commerce (GSFCC), has come out in full support and suggested that vaping be added to the list of age-restricted items.
"Vaping has infiltrated the school system. Children from very tender ages are now vaping as they cannot purchase cigarettes. It is a myth that it replaces addictive smoking. Vaping itself is addictive and costly. It also contains dangerous and harmful additives," Singh told Newsday via WhatsApp.
