PRESIDENT of the Guild of Students at The UWI, St Augustine Vedanand Hargobin has expressed full support for Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s proposal to raise the legal age for marijuana use and gambling to 25 and for alcohol consumption to 21.
In a statement dated July 10, the Guild described the initiative as a forward-thinking, health-centred policy aimed at protecting the well-being of young people across the nation.
“The guild acknowledges that these changes may not be a popular decision in some circles, but it is definitely one intended for the greater good.”
