Forty-four-year-old Clifford Speede from Five Miles Housing Scheme, Bartica, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) was, on Friday, fined $210,000 for driving under the influence of alcohol and breach of a condition of prescribed fitness.
Speede appeared before Magistrate Caressa Henry at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court, where both charges were read to him. As such, he pleaded guilty and was fined $200,000 for exceeding the prescribed alcohol limit and $10,000 for breaching a condition of prescribed fitness.
The fines amounted to a total of $210,000, with three months’ imprisonment in default of payment.
