The name Mariah Seenath remains forever etched on the school population of the San Fernando East Secondary School as the staff and her schoolmates remembered her with heartfelt tribute as a vibrant student, whom they saw as a “young warrior”.
A display with pictures of Mariah with her classmates, her participation in school events and with her football team were posted on a school billboard on Friday, as they continue to mourn her loss and remember for enthusiasm and dedication to the institution.
A moving tribute to Mariah, a Form Three student, that was posted on her school’s Facebook page read, “Mariah was more than just a student or an athlete, she was a fighter. She was a bright and spirited young soul whose time with us was cut short. Mariah was a vibrant part of our school community whether on the football field, performing on stage with the drama club or showing kindness in everyday interactions. She left a mark on everyone she met. Despite life’s challenges, she never gave up on striving for something better. She stood tall against all odds, always trying, always pushing, always holding onto hope. Rest in peace, young warrior. Your dreams may have been silenced, but your spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those you touched.”
