Delays in service at Licensing offices were caused by an influx of persons who sought renewals outside of the “legal timeframe”, coupled with a flawed system passed down from the previous administration.
So said Transport and Civil Aviation Minister Eli Zakour at a news conference at the Chaguanas headquarters of the UNC yesterday as he urged members of the public to renew their driver’s licence in a timely manner.
“I would like to remind members of the public that under Regulations 20, you could renew a driver’s licence up until 30 days before expiry,” he said, adding that it was a serious offence to drive with an expired licence.
