Fire officers were called to the Sangre Grande police station following an electrical fire on Tuesday afternoon.
Around 1 p.m. workers from the National Maintenance Training and Security Company (MTS) were cleaning the kitchen area on the second floor of the station when they saw sparks and smoke coming from a plug.
Contact was made with the Sangre Grande fire station while police officers were alerted and evacuated. Under the supervisions of FSO Allen, the fire was contained. No one was injured but structural damage was seen.
