Former works and transport minister Rohan Sinanan says no concerns about former Programme for Upgrading Roads Efficiency (PURE) Deputy Director Hayden Phillip were ever brought to his attention during his time in office.
Asked for comment on the dismissal of Phillip over allegations of “gross misconduct, malfeasance, misbehaviour in public office and breaches of contract” outlined in a termination letter from the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to him dated September 25, 2026, Sinanan told the Sunday Express on Friday, with regard to his tenure, “I cannot recall any instance or reports of wrongdoing drawn to my attention on the part of Deputy Director of PURE Hayden Phillip.”
He added that Phillip had assumed the deputy director role only in recent years and, to his knowledge, was appointed following an interview process conducted by the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure’s Human Resources Department.
