Police are investigating a late-night larceny at a well services compound in South Oropouche, where a group of masked men attempted to steal copper cables before fleeing the scene.
According to police reports, around 1.50 a.m. on Sunday,= a security officer on sentry duty observed approximately four men dressed in dark clothing with hoodies removing lengths of black and blue copper cable from an unsecured metal container on the south-eastern side of the compound.
The security officer confronted the suspects, causing them to drop the cables and run off inside the premises. During a brief pursuit, one suspect was seen standing about 40 feet away before all four escaped through an opening in the compound’s metal fencing and fled on foot in an unknown direction.
