New York Fashion Week is upon us, and it got me thinking about how much fashion and interior design influence the wedding industry. We often look at weddings as their own creative world, but they are actually incredibly responsive to what is happening around us. What we wear, how we decorate our homes, the restaurants and hotels we are drawn to, even the way luxury brands present themselves all eventually find their way into weddings.

And increasingly, I think the most interesting weddings are borrowing ideas rather than following wedding trends.
