LEGISLATION which will allow authorities to provide a time frame for motorists to repair their vehicles will be proclaimed on Monday, Transport Minister Eli Zakour has said.
He announced in the Senate yesterday that the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which was amended for the introduction and implementation of fixed penalty warnings for specific traffic violations, will be proclaimed on March 2, 2026.
The Fixed Penalty Warning (FPW) system allows a police officer, transport officer, traffic warden or an estate constable to issue a time frame in which motorists may repair their vehicles, where the officer has reason to believe that any traffic violation specified in the proposed Eleventh Schedule is being or has been committed.
