The body of an unidentified man with a wound to the head was found under a coconut tree on the afternoon of April 30 in the quiet community of Mayo in the Gasparillo district.
The victim, who appeared to be in his 30s, was of mixed descent and slim build. He was found face down in a garden off Mayo Road, near a concrete slab. He was wearing a blue jersey and brown pants.
Residents told Newsday they were unaware that a body had been found, saying they only realised something was wrong when they saw scores of police officers in the area. They said they did not recognise the man based on the description provided.
