Although Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has praised law enforcement’s efforts to reduce serious crimes, she says more work is needed to bring the figures down further.
In a social media post yesterday, the Prime Minister said: “The data clearly shows a safer T&T in 2026 with a nationwide decrease in serious crimes.
“Data shows that serious crimes across all police divisions in Trinidad and Tobago decreased from 6,469 incidents during the January to July 20, 2025 period to 5,514 incidents during the same period in 2026.”
