Al­though Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar has praised law en­force­ment’s ef­forts to re­duce se­ri­ous crimes, she says more work is need­ed to bring the fig­ures down fur­ther.

In a so­cial me­dia post yes­ter­day, the Prime Min­is­ter said: “The da­ta clear­ly shows a safer T&T in 2026 with a na­tion­wide de­crease in se­ri­ous crimes.

“Da­ta shows that se­ri­ous crimes across all po­lice di­vi­sions in Trinidad and To­ba­go de­creased from 6,469 in­ci­dents dur­ing the Jan­u­ary to Ju­ly 20, 2025 pe­ri­od to 5,514 in­ci­dents dur­ing the same pe­ri­od in 2026.”
