China’s new ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, Ren Hongyan, hosted his first official event on Wednesday, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
At a reception at the Chinese Embassy in Maraval, Ren noted that during World War II, T&T played an important role as an allied logistics base and later became “among the first Caribbean nations to achieve independence in the post-war era.”
