Trinidad and To­ba­go has fi­nalised a TT$94 mil­lion aid grant from Chi­na, con­firmed as Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar be­gan meet­ings in New York for the Unit­ed Na­tions Gen­er­al As­sem­bly.

The grant, val­ued at RMB 100 mil­lion, falls un­der an Agree­ment on Eco­nom­ic and Tech­ni­cal Co­op­er­a­tion be­tween the two coun­tries and will fund joint­ly ap­proved projects in Trinidad and To­ba­go. It was dis­cussed dur­ing a Sep­tem­ber 18 meet­ing be­tween Per­sad-Bisses­sar and Chi­nese Am­bas­sador Ren Hongyan at the Diplo­mat­ic Cen­tre.

On Sep­tem­ber 25, For­eign Af­fairs Min­is­ter Sean Sobers al­so met Chi­na’s Vice Min­is­ter of For­eign Af­fairs Miao Deyu in New York, where they dis­cussed bi­lat­er­al and mul­ti­lat­er­al co­op­er­a­tion.
