As the Republic of India celebrates its 80th Independence Day on Saturday, President Dr Irfaan Ali has lauded the strong and enduring partnership that Guyana shares with the country. In a statement posted to his Facebook page, the Guyanese Head of State extended greetings, on behalf of the Government and people of Guyana, to India on its Independence Anniversary, sending best wishes for the country’s continued peace, prosperity, and progress. President Ali pointed out that India’s remarkable journey since gaining independence has been defined by the resilience, determination, and ingenuity of its people, transforming the nation into a global leader across numerous fields. He went on to highlight the long-standing relationship that Guyana and India have shared over the past 60 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two nations. This partnership, according to the Guyanese Leader, continues to grow stronger with time. “Guyana and India share an enduring friendship anchored in deep historical and cultural ties, strong people-to-people connections and an expanding partnership built on mutual respect and shared aspirations,” President Ali stated.
“As India marks this important national occasion, I join the people of Guyana in celebrating its achievements and extend our very best wishes to the people of India for continued peace, prosperity and progress,” he added.
