The Ministry of Education had to issue a clarification on student hairstyles and grooming policies yesterday following complaints about Fyzabad Secondary School’s rules for female students, with some parents, students, and activists describing it as discriminatory.
The controversy arose after a school document outlining rules for female students’ hair circulated online.
The rules specify that hair should not extend more than ten inches below the shoulder blades, must be tied back if longer than shoulder length, and buns must not exceed three inches in height.
