Political leader of the Progressive Empowerment Party (PEP) Phillip Edward Alexander has failed in his attempt to have the Appeal Court set aside the ruling of a High Court judge who ordered in 2023 that he pay more than $.5 million to Finance Minister Colm Imbert for defamation of character.
The three-judge panel comprising Justices of Appeal Mark Mohammed, Ronnie Boodoosingh and Geoffrey Henderson unanimously dismissed the appeal at the Hall of Justice in Port of Spain yesterday.
Following the dismissal, Imbert took to social media platform X to announce the decision of the court.
