…“Road safety is about protecting lives,” PM as Guyana launches Road Safety Month
Despite a 16 per cent decline in total traffic accidents between January 1 and October 31, 2026, Guyana has recorded 103 road deaths so far this year, prompting renewed calls from Government and road safety officials for greater responsibility among all road users.
Prime Minister (PM) Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips and Home Affairs Minister Oneidge Walrond on Wednesday stressed that road safety is about more than obeying traffic laws, emphasising the need to protect lives as Guyana officially launched Road Safety Month during a television broadcast.
