Boat captain charged with attempted arson, granted $100,000 bail

(Kaieteur News) – A 34-year-old boat captain from Puruni Landing, Middle Mazaruni River, has been charged with attempting to set fire to a building.

Dwayne Sookdeo appeared before Magistrate Teriq Mohammed at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court on Monday, June 29, where he was charged with the offence of Attempting to Set Fire to Building, contrary to Section 146 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01.

Sookdeo pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of $100,000.
