Police officer Valentine Eastman has been sentenced to 16 years, 5 months and 15 days at hard labour for harbouring two Colombian women for the purpose of exploitation by prostitution.
Eastman, 63, who was charged back in 2013, was found guilty by a jury earlier this year, on January 31.
In passing sentence on Monday, Justice George Busby considered the Trafficking In Persons Act, this country’s Constitution, a lone local case available for comparison for sentencing and the United Kingdom sentencing guidelines.
