Another cohort of Guyanese students is set to pursue higher education and professional training in China as the Government seeks to strengthen the country’s human capital and equip citizens with skills needed to support a rapidly expanding economy.

The initiative forms part of the 2026 Chinese Government Scholarship Programme, with Public Service, Government Efficiency and Implementation Minister Zulfikar Ally urging recipients to view the opportunity as more than a pathway to academic qualifications.

“It is not just about studying. It is about learning different things, learning different cultures, learning ways in which, as a country, we can improve and do better,” Ally told the scholarship recipients.
