A man who stopped to help after Tuesday night’s fatal accident on the Beetham Highway was beaten and robbed of cash and personal items by a group of men who descended on the crash site.
Police said the robbery occurred even as passers-by were attempting to rescue 19-year-old student and pundit Kavish Persad, who died after his car went airborne and crashed into a waterway near Beetham Gardens around 10 p.m.
According to a report, Ian Harrow of Longdenville said he pulled over to render assistance after seeing the wreck. As he tried to pull the victim from the mangled vehicle, several men grabbed him from behind, dealt him blows and robbed him of $10,000 in cash, along with his Trinidad and Tobago ID card and a bank card.
