Kitty businessman remanded on robbery charge

(Kaieteur News) – Naipaul Basdeoram, 36, a businessman of David Street, Kitty, Georgetown, was on Friday charged with attempting to commit a felony in relation to an alleged armed robbery.

Basdeoram was arrested on Saturday 29th August, 2026, in connection with the offence.

He appeared at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court No. 2 on Friday 4th September, 2026, before Magistrate Omadatt Chandan, where the indictable charge of “Robbery Under Arms”, contrary to Section 36 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01, was read to him.
