The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening regional cooperation and security as the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) marked CARICOM Day. In a statement on behalf of the Joint Services Coordinating Council, Chief of Defence Staff, Brigadier Omar Khan, said the observance provides an opportunity to celebrate the shared values, enduring partnerships and collective aspirations that unite the peoples of CARICOM. He noted that the occasion also highlights the importance of regional cooperation in advancing security, development and prosperity across the Caribbean. Brigadier Khan said the GDF remains committed to supporting these objectives through continued collaboration and mutual assistance with its regional counterparts. “The Guyana Defence Force remains proud to contribute to these efforts through collaboration and mutual support with our Caribbean partners,” he stated.
According to the Chief of Defence Staff, strengthening regional solidarity remains essential to building a safer and more secure future for the people of the Caribbean.
He extended best wishes to citizens across the region, saying, “Happy CARICOM Day.” CARICOM Day is observed annually by member states to commemorate the establishment of the Caribbean Community and to reflect on the importance of regional integration and cooperation in addressing shared challenges and promoting sustainable development.
