A 30-year-old man from Dun­don­ald Hill, St James, was shot and in­jured by po­lice of­fi­cers on Mon­day af­ter­noon, af­ter al­leged­ly at­tempt­ing to stab them with a sharp­ened ob­ject.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, WPC Roberts and PC McIn­tosh of the E999/ERP unit, were on mo­bile pa­trol in a marked po­lice ve­hi­cle along Dun­don­ald Hill at 2.45 pm, when they no­ticed the sus­pect be­hav­ing sus­pi­cious­ly with an ob­ject in his waist­band.

The of­fi­cers stopped and at­tempt­ed to search him, at which point he al­leged­ly pulled out a sharp­ened ob­ject and lunged at them in an er­rat­ic and vi­o­lent man­ner. The of­fi­cers dis­charged their firearms, shoot­ing the sus­pect twice in the legs.
