PM hails SoE ‘success’

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has disclosed “classified” information to highlight what she has described as the success of the state of emergency (SoE).

She stated in a social media post yesterday that 5,802 people were arrested and 3,552 charged during the six-month security operation.

The information, contained in a document marked “SECRET”, provides one of the most detailed breakdowns to date of arrests, criminal charges and Preventive Detention Orders (PDOs) during the SoE.
