Internationally acclaimed Caribbean powerhouse KestheBand has sent the internet into a frenzy, delivering a vibrant and culturally rich performance for their electrifying debut on NPR Tiny Desk concerts. Recorded at NPR Music Headquarters in Washington, DC, the globally-renowned series is currently celebrating 18 years of spotlighting worldwide music excellence.
KestheBand’s Tiny Desk performance is a seamless, high-energy medley that showcases the depth and evolution of their genre-bending sound. The set featured reimagined fan favorites and timeless classics including ‘Hello’, ‘Fallin’, ‘Rum and Coca Cola’, ‘Jolene’, ‘Cocoa Tea’, ‘Wotless’. and ‘Savannah Grass’. Each track flows effortlessly into the next, groundswelling high energy from the audience and creating an immersive experience that celebrates the band’s popularity and global appeal.
A defining highlight of the performance is its authentic representation of Caribbean unity through Soca music. The set is elevated by the powerful presence of backup vocalists Teddyson John of Saint Lucia and Terri Lyons, Trinidad and Tobago’s Calypso Monarch 2026 – both widely recognized as cultural ambassadors in their own right. Their inimitable contributions add depth, soul, and regional pride to an already magnetic showcase. Bringing a seamless blend between vocals and instrumentation, every note and harmony of the performance moves in perfect sync. Rich live arrangements – including the addition of the steelpan played by legendary pannist Dane Gulston and percussions by his son, Denilson Gulston – intertwine effortlessly with powerful vocal delivery, creating a soulful sound that felt both intimate and electrifying.
